Ear canal anatomy and amplifier technology

Cerumen protects the ear canal from dust and drying out. However, an accumulation of this secretion can dampen sound waves and clog the sound port of hearing amplifiers. Hearing amplifiers consist essentially of three assemblies: a miniature microphone, a signal processor, and a speaker, also known as a receiver. The microphone captures ambient sound, the amplifier boosts selected frequency ranges, and the receiver directs the amplified sound straight into the ear canal via a medical-grade silicone mold.

Targeted cleaning without risks

Cotton swabs often push earwax deep against the eardrum, forming dense blockages. Mechanical cleaning must take place exclusively in the outer area.

Sound transduction in detail

Modern hearing amplifiers use pre-amplifier circuits that filter the analog input signal. A limiter shields the ear from sudden transient sounds above defined decibel thresholds. The amplified sound pressure reaches the eardrum clearly only when the ear canal is free of obstructions.
